Job Description 

GEI has an excellent junior/mid-level (2-8 years of experience) environmental opportunity in our Rancho Cordova office to help support our growing environmental practice in California. The position involves executing work on projects located throughout the state in the water, energy, transportation, and other sectors. The position has tremendous short- and long-term growth opportunities for your career within GEI. As part of our multidisciplinary project teams, you will have an important role in executing projects; interfacing with existing and new clients to ensure their environmental compliance needs are met; conducting environmental analyses for CEQA, NEPA, and other technical documents; and working as part of our team to solve an array of problems critical to California’s most important environmental challenges. The position is a regular, full-time role. 

Essential Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection, conducting site visits, performing data and literature review, interfacing with clients and teaming partners, and coordinating and preparing CEQA/NEPA and environmental permitting documentation.
  • Support senior management with business development and responding to requests for proposals.
  • As part of integrated teams, work closely and collaboratively with other project GEI environmental specialists, engineers, planners, project managers, and project directors to execute projects effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with writing environmental documents and conducting environmental analysis and experience successfully preparing CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • BA, BS, MA, MS, or Ph.D. in Environmental Studies, Environmental or Biological Sciences, Urban Planning, Geography, or other natural or physical sciences degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, organization, coordination, writing, people, and verbal communication skills; solid work ethic; and ability to work independently and collaborate with others as part of multidisciplinary teams.  
  • Excellent quality of work and technical experience a must.
  • Successful track record of adherence to project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Air quality analysis (including greenhouse gas emissions analysis) experience a plus.
