GEI is seeking a remediation design engineer to join our growing Atlanta, Georgia office, which will be located in the Vinings area. 

Essential Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Lead or assist engineering and design efforts for sediment remediation projects
  • Support engineering lead on development of dredge, sediment capping, and channel realignment designs
  • Vapor intrusion assessment, mitigation, and response; in situ/ex situ groundwater remediation design and implementation; soil remediation system design and implementation; and remediation system operation, maintenance, and optimization
  • Support projects ranging from simple and small to large, complex industrial facilities, to major federal facilities
  • Prepare investigation, design, and monitoring reports
  • Participate on technical teams working across multiple offices throughout the country, problem-solving, preparing plans and specifications, and meeting with clients and subcontractors
  • Regional travel likely

Minimum Qualifications 

  • General understanding of CERCLA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • At least five years experience in Environmental Remediation
  • Current EIT
  • Experience with sediment remediation
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Adaptable to constant changes in workload and a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with vapor intrusion/mitigation, groundwater, and soil remediation, and remediation
  • Familiarity and/or experience with detailed design and specification preparation 
  • P.E. or the ability to obtain a PE license within the next two years
