Your role at GEI.

GEI’s Woburn, MA and Franklin, MA offices are seeking a motivated structural or geostructural engineer to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, and waterfront development.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support evaluation and design efforts for structural steel, reinforced concrete, excavation support systems, foundations, and other above and below grade structures.
  • Perform lateral earth pressure analyses.
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations.
  • Assist in preparing design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
  • Assist in overseeing specialty geotechnical construction such as deep foundations, tiebacks, support of excavation, among others.
  • Prepare technical letters and reports.
  • Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
  • Collaborate with GEI Staff and Clients across various offices, regions, and disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Structural Engineering is required.
  • M.S. in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Geotechnical and structural course work required.
  • 2 to 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience working in a team environment and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to travel on temporary assignments as needed.
  • Able to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
